The Franklin College football team will join the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in supporting the nonprofit organization Samaritan’s Feet initiative during Saturday’s home football game against Anderson.
Monetary donations will help provide shoes to impoverished children across the globe. For a $10 donation, fans will have an opportunity to wear, or have a member of the football team wear, a special orange wristband. Other donations also will be accepted at the gate of Saturday’s game, which kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at Stewart “Red” Faught Stadium.
“Samaritan’s Feet is a great organization that’s committed to help the nearly 300 million people who go without shoes each day, and the more than a million who die each year as a result,” said Grizzlies head coach Mike Leonard, who will coach the game barefoot to draw attention to the organization’s humanitarian efforts.
