Greenwood just wouldn’t give up against Franklin on Tuesday night in its Class 4A boys basketball sectional quarterfinal game at Center Grove.

Trailing by seven points entering the fourth quarter, the Woodmen fought back for a chance to win it at the buzzer. Instead, however, they forced the Grizzly Cubs into overtime with Franklin holding on for a 50-44 victory.

Greenwood traded buckets with Franklin throughout the extra session and trailed by two with 23 seconds left on the clock.

But the Woodmen’s fortunes ran out after their subsequent in-bounds pass. That’s when Cubs junior Bryce Platfoot stole the ball and drove the lane for a layup with 10 seconds remaining.

With the victory, Franklin (15-6) advances to face Franklin Central in a semifinal game at 6 p.m. Friday at Center Grove.
