Grizzly Cubs hope setbacks will be motivation in tourney

Boys basketball sectionals are viewed as a start for some programs, a stopping point for most others.

No one knows what the coming days hold for Franklin Community, which at 14-6 holds the best record of the seven Johnson County teams entering play this week. Or even if there will be a tomorrow.

Tonight’s first-round game against Greenwood at the Center Grove Sectional represents the start of Grizzly Cubs’ coach Jerry Bomholt’s 34th such postseason and first at Franklin. Bomholt has been around long enough to watch average talent overachieve and good players underachieve. He’s broken hearts and had his broken.
