Ross Barr isn’t naive enough to believe the lightning bolt that struck last Friday will be spotted by locals this evening in Shelby County.
That doesn’t mean Franklin Community High School’s starting fullback can’t dream.
After wrapping his arms around the football 20 times for a career-high 284 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the Grizzly Cubs’ 59-13 dismantling of Seymour in the season-opener, the 6-foot, 215-pound senior finds himself attempting to follow the toughest of acts: His own.
It’s not as though Barr hadn’t manufactured solid performances before. The 196 yards accumulated in last season’s 22-19 win over Bloomington North was his previous all-time best; in all, he eclipsed 100 yards in six of Franklin’s 11 games in 2012 en route to 1,198 yards.
