Growth, education among District 93 race issues: Attorney Guillory takes on incumbent Frizzell

White River Township is seeing tremendous growth and change, and two candidates vying to represent the area’s residents say the issues that come with that growth are their focus.

The population of the area has grown to 42,000. Medical services and other businesses plan to locate along State Road 37. A debate has emerged to incorporate the area as a town.

Two candidates vying for the Indiana House of Representatives seat that represents the area say the challenges that come with such growth will be a focus if they’re elected. Incumbent David Frizzell will face challenger Ryan Guillory for the District 93 seat in November’s election.

Better education, improved infrastructure and the development of a mass transit system are all issues that would better the township and the rest of the state, they said.

Frizzell, a Republican, has held the District 93 seat since 1992. The Perry Township resident has served on committees including education, public health and utilities and energy during his time as a state representative. Currently, he is the majority whip for the Indiana House of Representatives.

During his time as a state representative, Frizzell has worked with other legislators to approve a balanced budget for the state by cutting spending. The General Assembly also has cut more than 40 commissions and boards that were not needed, and he expects that to continue.
