Depending on your definition, the Indiana Pacers are slumping or in a rut.
Either way, they are no longer the NBA’s best team. The distinction now belongs to the Portland Trail Blazers, who — thanks to the Pacers’ 101-96 home loss Monday against Detroit — have the league’s best record.
But at this stage, the Pacers aren’t interested in bragging rights. Their sole concern is to regain the edge that propelled them to the best start in franchise history.
