I wanted to express my appreciation to the Daily Journal for printing the letter to the editor by Alex Engelbert on Sept. 1, “Immigration policies need to reflect America’s history.” I wanted to thank you.

I would like to express many hearts to the Daily Journal for publishing the annual Johnson County Sheriff’s Charity Ride so frequently in the news briefs of the Daily Journal. Your assistance in getting the word out to the community helped with another banner year for our charity. Thanks, thanks and thanks, again, it was certainly appreciated.

The members of Nineveh Senior Center send lots of hearts to Vectren for all their help on the United Way Day of Caring. It was very much appreciated. Thank you from members of the center.

A great big heart to the police officers patrolling East Adams Drive at about 8 a.m. Sept. 4. Their presence was noted with happiness by most of the pedestrians in the neighborhood and some parents worried about reckless drivers trying to gain points by hitting walkers or kids waiting for school buses on Middleton. While my wife and I do not drink coffee, we nearly always have fresh hot black or white tea that time of the morning. Bring an empty cup.
