Police and firefighters used a helicopter to find two New Whiteland children who wandered away from their mother in Indianapolis.
Nancy Blake, of New Whiteland, called Indianapolis police when she could not find her children, a 9-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl, around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
The family was at a church rummage sale at Garfield Christian Church south of downtown Indianapolis, and the children walked away while their mother was shopping, according to a report from the Indianapolis Fire Department.
Blake searched for the children, but could not find them. Police and firefighters talked with multiple neighbors in the area of the church located at 1751 Walker Avenue who had seen the children.
Emergency workers from Indianapolis police and fire, emergency management and the Wayne Township Fire Department then set up a search in the area and called in a police helicopter, the report said.
The children were spotted from the helicopter just before 8:30 p.m. at nearby Garfield Park, the report said.
Emergency workers picked up the children, who were not harmed, and reunited them with their mother, the report said.
