The pavement on a busy road in Franklin is deteriorating faster than officials can get approval to fix it.
A shoulder on Hurricane Road at Eastview Drive is crumbling, and the deterioration has increased since city officials first noticed the problem a few weeks ago.
With Main Street closed for construction, more traffic is using Hurricane Road, causing the pavement to crumble at a faster rate, street commissioner Ron Collins said.
And the added traffic isn’t just small vehicles. More heavy semitrailers have been using the road, causing the pavement to deteriorate faster than officials anticipated, Collins said.
