The 17-year-old who police said brought a gun to Indian Creek High School last week has been charged as an adult.

Clayton Sleighter, 17, of 5302 S. County Road 150 West, Trafalgar, has been charged with carrying a handgun without a license on school grounds, a felony, and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

He remained at the Johnson County juvenile detention center on Monday on $9,000 bond, director of juvenile detention Jim Higdon said.

Sleighter has been charged as an adult because of the felony handgun offense, Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper said. The Daily Journal typically does not identify juveniles who are arrested or charged with a crime, unless that crime would be a felony if committed by an adult.
