Certified surgical technologist graduates at Ivy Tech’s Columbus/Franklin region received a 100 percent pass rate on their exams.

The certification is required for employment by many local, state, and national health care organizations.

Students have been hired by Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, King’s Daughters’ Health in Madison and Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Fifteen or 16 students are admitted into the program every year.

The program received the merit award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. This is the second year in a row that students have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the exam.
