The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office fired a jailer after two inmates were injured and he didn’t help them right away.
Jailer Chris Presley closed a heavy metal door on the hands of the two inmates earlier this month, and one had to go to the hospital for treatment, Sheriff Doug Cox said. He then walked away when they were hurt and asking for medical help, Cox said.
The jailer appeared from surveillance footage to be engaging in horseplay, Cox said.
Presley could not be reached for comment. He had worked for the Johnson County jail for at least three years and had no previous disciplinary issues, Cox said.
