A jury needed less than two hours to find Shawn Corbally guilty of eight felony charges, including rape and criminal deviate conduct.

The victim tearfully hugged her boyfriend and Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper after the jury reached its verdict. The mother of two said that she was extremely pleased that justice had been served, that she no longer fears that Corbally will come back and kill her, and that she hopes to try to move on with her life after the brutal attack in July.

She said that Corbally was snarling and staring at her while she sat about 10 feet away and testified about how he broke into her Greenwood apartment, repeatedly raped her at knifepoint for hours and threatened to kill her children, including her then-1-year-old daughter who was sleeping in bed with her.

But she said she stared right back and knew she had to have to courage to confront him, so he couldn’t hurt anyone else.
