To the editor:
John Ahlquist’s March 12 letter to the editor is rife with errors.
According the New York Police Department website, all persons wishing to purchase a firearm must apply for a permit to do so. Additionally, all firearms within the city must be registered, regardless of the fact of whether they are being kept solely on premises.
Application approval of a permit is done on a “may issue” basis, meaning final approvals are at the sole discretion of the issuing authority.
