To the editor:
As always, I enjoyed Mike Redmond’s column “Senior? Who says?” (Aug. 16).
While I also experienced a mild shock when first given a senior discount without having asked, the real shock to my system (from which I still haven’t fully recovered) occurred when my wife and I were traveling and decided to use the city bus. When we boarded, a couple in their 30s stood and offered us their seats! I didn’t know for sure whether to thank them for their kindness or tell them we don’t feel like “old people.”
In the end, we thanked them and accepted the offered seats — good thing we did too, we’re not as young as we used to be.
