Letter: Health plan expansion aids low-income Hoosiers

To the editor:

On behalf of Little Red Door Cancer Agency’s board of directors, our staff members and the medically under-served clients we serve, we would like to express the agency’s support for the expansion of health coverage to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers through HIP 2.0.

Little Red Door Cancer Agency has been reducing the burden of cancer for medically under-served residents in central Indiana for nearly 70 years. Hearing the words “You have cancer” is very difficult for anyone, but for someone without medical insurance it is completely devastating.

But the health care landscape is changing, and that is great news for Little Red Door’s clients — for those who have already received a cancer diagnosis as well as those who have yet to learn that a cancer diagnosis lurks in their future.
