To the editor:
John Crisp showed his liberal, racially-driven colors in his secessionist article about President Barack Obama’s re-election (Nov. 23). Crisp thinks Obama’s win was all about race. Conservatives don’t fixate on pigeon-holing folks into racial demographics. We treat them as people — all created in the image of God. Crisp naively assumes, “You’re black, you’ll vote Democrat; you’re Latino, you’ll vote Democrat. Yippee — the end of the GOP is here.”
Not so fast.
America is a grand idea, not a racial demographic. America is about liberty under God — freedom and opportunity to be the best your hard work can take you. Conservatives believe rights come from God, and government is the servant of the people. Government must be limited to provide maximum personal liberty with responsibility for all people.
