Letter: No tax breaks for high-end housing; rethink priorities

To the editor:

First, I have nothing against high-end developers or high-end housing. I am, however, totally opposed to spending one cent of the taxpayers’ money on such a project. If this is a viable endeavor, the developer should be able to provide his own financing and build all the infrastructure required without my help or that of the redevelopment commission.

I believe that repairing and maintaining existing streets, sidewalks and alleys in the older parts of Franklin should have priority over endlessly extending a walking trail.

Finally, Mayor McGuinness, I have never seen more school buses and full schoolhouses improve the plight of the poor taxpayer over the long haul. Bad premises will get you faulty conclusions every time.
