To the editor:

In the Dec. 20 Daily Journal, there was a plaintive note, written by one Pence Pruitt of Nineveh, detailing problems with the bureaucratic assessor’s office.

Although I cannot offer Mr. Pruitt any solution, I can tell him with whom he is dealing.

In Circa 50 B.C., M. Tuillius Cicero gave this definition of a bureaucrat:
