To the editor:
Mr. Sam Hoagland’s letter (Dec. 16) highlights the unfairness of the property tax system in providing adequate resources for public service and education. We have voter rebellion in nearly every county.
The Muncie school bus issue and cutbacks in police and fire departments are only the tip of the iceberg. Representatives cannot always follow the current public sentiment.
It is too volatile, and stable government cannot run on public opinion switching back and forth.
