To the editor:
Regarding the Daily Journal article in the Oct. 6-7 edition about the mother unfit for trial, I have to ask about the circuit court of Johnson County judge who made the past decisions about the child’s time with his mother.
Is he really fit to have an opinion on anything?
Judge Mark Loyd ruled the maternal grandmother would be Jacob Smith’s guardian and said there would be no unsupervised visits with Jacob and his parents. After Jacob was murdered, the judge claimed Jacob Smith wanted more time with his mother and had said he missed his parents and wanted to be with them.
When Jacob had asked for that, the judge ordered there would be unsupervised visits at least with him and his mother. We’ve raised four children and have spent time with 10 grandchildren. I’m sure many other adults have had the same experience of trying to reason with a 3-year-old child and their ideas.
