To the editor:
Hardly a day passes without an article in the Daily Journal about redevelopment plans for the city of Franklin. This is hardly surprising given the many needs for the renewal of streets, sidewalks, buildings and neighborhoods within the city.
What is surprising is what is not discussed by the mayor and redevelopment commission: the need to eliminate the heavy truck traffic from the residential areas east of downtown and the old city itself.
Controlling the traffic that moves through the city should not be an afterthought to redevelopment: it should be preliminary. Why this oversight?
