To the editor:
Some people seem to be pretty angry with the Johnson County Public Library administration and board. They are writing letters to the editor calling for resignations and ousters.
Here’s what I think:
Library director Beverly Martin has brought the county system through tough economic times without cutting hours or laying anyone off, as Greenwood and Marion County have had to do.
The library administrators and board have no debt and have even saved $5 million toward the planned construction.
The library board members are volunteering their time and, I am sure, must have spent hours in coming to their decision.
They studied the issue, consulted architects, and got public opinion. Sounds pretty responsible to me.
Good job so far, and thank you to all.
