Johnson County is borrowing money to do construction and buy equipment needed for a seventh court and a consolidated dispatch center.
The county commissioners have recommended the county borrow nearly $1.7 million in a two-year loan. The county is paying off another loan of a similar amount this year.
The loan will be used to pay for equipment and renovations for a new court, which will open in 2015, as well as furniture for a consolidated dispatch center, which the county is required to have by 2014, according to the county auditor’s office.
Residents likely will not notice a difference in the taxes they will pay for the new loan because the amount will be about the same as the previous loan, Auditor Jan Richhart said.
