Local home sales up for year




Fewer local homes sold last month, compared to the same time last year, but total sales are up so far this year.

About 25 percent more homes were sold in Johnson County so far this year, compared to the same time last year, according to a report from Indianapolis real estate company F.C. Tucker Co.

But the number of homes sold in July was less than in July 2012 in Johnson County and across central Indiana.

Ten fewer homes sold in Johnson County last month, compared to July 2012, lowering the total number of homes sold by about 4 percent.

In central Indiana, the number of homes sold in July fell by less than 1 percent from July 2012 in the nine county area.

The average price homes sold for increased in Johnson County from $149,208 in July 2012 to $150,254 last month, an increase of less than 1 percent. Across central Indiana, home sales prices increased nearly 6 percent to $164,419.

The number of homes for sale decreased to 954 in Johnson County, down less than 1 percent from the same time last year. In central Indiana the number of homes for sale decreased as well by 20.3 percent.
