A Greenwood man was arrested after a woman told police he grabbed her by the throat and hit her.

Joseph Gill, 19, of 1172 Plymouth Rock Way, was arrested on charges of carrying a handgun without a license, battery and strangulation, according to a Greenwood Police Department report.

Gill’s ex-girlfriend told police Gill pushed her into a car, grabbed her by the throat and threatened to shoot her. The woman also told police Gill punched her in the eye, and police officers saw she had swelling and bruising around her eye lid, the report said.
