Man arrested after 7-year-old asks for help

Franklin police were called after they said a 7-year-old girl ran to get help after seeing her mother choked by her boyfriend.

Aaron Stickans, 30, of 2611 Talley Road, Columbus, was arrested Friday on charges of battery and strangulation, a Franklin Police Department report aid.

The 7-year-old told police she was lying on the couch in her living room when she heard Stickans cursing at her mother. She looked into her mother’s room and saw Stickans on top of her mother with his hands on her chin. She told police her mother was trying to make noises, but they were muffled, a Franklin Police Department report said.

Stickans told the 7-year-old that the two were just arguing and that everything was OK, but the girl ran to get help, the report said.
