Man convicted of rape gets 270 years

A man convicted of repeatedly raping a woman at knifepoint in her Greenwood apartment was sentenced to 270 years in prison.

Shawn Corbally, 34, was convicted by a jury last month of eight felonies, including rape and criminal deviate conduct.

He had faced up to 340 years in prison, and Prosecutor Brad Cooper said he wanted Corbally to have a long prison sentence to keep the public safe. Corbally was released from prison a few months before the rape in Greenwood after serving time for two previous rape convictions.

He had been released after serving less than half of a 25-year sentence after earning credits for good behavior.
