I recently came across this quote from President Ronald Reagan: “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”
It was part of his farewell address after eight years as president, delivered on Jan. 11, 1989 in the Oval Office. He was speaking about the need for a resurgence of civic duty, pride and responsibility and teaching children about the history of American freedom and their obligation to teach future generations.
I like this quote not just for its patriotic tone, but for all the benefits involved in having a family meal. For such a simple act, the positive outcomes are enormous and worth taking the time to schedule into our daily lives.
