Parents and buses won’t have to contend with speeding traffic when Worthsville Road is widened to the size of a highway near a Clark-Pleasant school. But a planned detour to Clark-Pleasant Middle School has been delayed again.

Work on an access road off Sheek Road to the middle school on the southeast side of Greenwood was supposed to have started as soon as this fall, Clark-Pleasant Superintendent Kevin Caress said. But Greenwood is looking at pushing back the project to next spring or summer, when construction will begin on the $19 million Worthsville Road widening project.

Mayor Mark Myers said it made more sense to start both projects about the same time to cut down on costs. Workers, for instance, could share the same heavy construction equipment instead of having to rent it again and bring it back to the same area later.
