A Greenwood board that controls millions of taxpayer dollars will start 2014 with a new member — another city council member.

Founding redevelopment commission member Garnet Vaughan this week was voted out of her spot on the board, which she has had for 17 years, and was replaced with city council member Thom Hord.

The city council annually appoints two of the five redevelopment commission members. Last year, the council added council member Mike Campbell. The city council wanted a council member who reported to them regularly on the commission’s decisions and would help decide how to spend millions in tax dollars. Previously, the mayor had named Mike Tapp, a former city council member, to the commission.
