Imagine people strolling around Old Town Greenwood, shopping at upscale stores and savoring rooftop dining.

Residents in wheelchairs or with walkers wouldn’t have trouble navigating the sidewalks. Traffic wouldn’t clog Main Street at rush hour. Kids could safely walk or ride their bikes to a new spray area where the city pool used to be.

That’s part of the vision a Greenwood city board member has and hopes others will share.

Greenwood Economic Development Commission member Chuck Landon has been developing a plan for how to spark new life into the city’s historic business district. He plans to roll out his vision at a board meeting next month. He has invited doctors, lawyers and community leaders in the hope of getting their support.
