A community group has big hopes for Old Town Greenwood and could get some state funding to help make the goals happen.
The group Restore Old Town Greenwood, which came together to save historic buildings, has switched its focus to making the area more vibrant and attractive. It has incorporated as a nonprofit and recently got the city accepted into the Indiana Main Street program, a state-run effort to restore the downtowns of Hoosier cities and towns.
As an Indiana Main Street community, Greenwood will qualify for more grant money, including for facade
renovations and promotional campaigns, and get the opportunity to work with other communities that have done projects to revitalize their downtowns, group organizer Jennifer Hollingshead said.
