One’s final year of high school can be complicated for the sought-after athlete trying to squeeze in academic, social and leadership responsibilities.

Welcome to the front steps of Luke Andersen’s world, which at the moment involves an assortment of tennis practices and matches, the discipline necessary to maintain a 3.7 grade-point average, hanging out with friends when time permits and mixing in the occasional recruiting trip.

You see, Andersen isn’t just a tennis player. The Center Grove senior is one of the state’s finest, having advanced to the semifinals of the IHSAA State Singles Tournament in 2011 before losing to eventual champion Ronnie Schneider of Bloomington South

7-5, 6-4.
