If you or your family would like to help out by volunteering or donating this holiday season, here is a list of ways to give. These local organizations rely on the assistance of volunteers and donors each year to provide financial assistance, food, clothing and free services for Johnson County residents in need.

Each agency has different needs around the holidays, and here’s how you can help.

The Salvation Army

What’s needed: Volunteer bell-ringers through Dec. 24, monetary and any perishable and nonperishable food donations.

Where the donations go: The group runs a food pantry and provides financial assistance for families who need help with utilities and rent.

How to help: Go online to

salvationarmyindiana.org to donate or sign up to volunteer. Donations also can be brought or mailed to 325 Market Plaza, Greenwood, IN 46142.
