A Greenwood police officer has been arrested on multiple felony charges after he was arrested for fighting with and hitting several people, including two law enforcement officers, at a party early Wednesday.

Greenwood Officer Joseph A. Rodriguez, 41, was arrested on two charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, a charge of strangulation, a charge of battery, a charge of resisting law enforcement and a charge of public intoxication, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Witnesses described Rodriguez as out of control and said that he had choked his wife, the report said. Some witnesses later wanted to retract their statements to police because they were in fear of Rodriguez, the report said.
