Police have considered an intersection on State Road 44 one of the most dangerous in the county for years.
Hills, curves and high speeds where Center Line Road meets the highway have caused numerous accidents through the years, and Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox has said the best way for motorists to avoid an accident is to stay off that stretch of State Road 44 entirely.
“It’s a piece of roadway that can sneak up and bite you if you’re not familiar with it,” Cox said.
The intersection about a mile west of Franklin was listed as one of the state’s most deadliest in 2009, and county officials have long discussed how to straighten out the curves, which make seeing other vehicles difficult.
