The United Way of Johnson County raised more than its $1.4 million campaign goal, despite being thousands of dollars short just three weeks ago.
Volunteers raised $1,436,000, which is 4 percent higher than the amount raised last year and surpasses the agency’s goal by about $1,000.
Most of the money comes from the donations by employees who work at local businesses and corporate donors.
The money supports 20 local agencies, such as Gateway Services, Youth Connections and American Red Cross.
