The 50th meeting between Roncalli and Chatard was a classic.
Chatard’s Pete Hartley moved the pile and scored from two yards out to give the Class 3A No. 1 Trojans a 28-25 double-overtime win at Class 4A No. 7 Roncalli.
The host Rebels (2-1) took a 15-12 lead late in the fourth quarter on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Cam Smock to Aaron Schnell.
The Trojans (3-0) tied the game with 54 seconds to play on a 22-yard field goal by Chase Sadler.
The teams traded touchdowns in the opening overtime. Roncalli could manage only a 22-yard field goal by Kyle Kedra in its second overtime possession before Hartley scored the winner.
