Before Friday night’s homecoming game, Roncalli knew visiting Martinsville was capable of scoring a lot of points.

But the Class 4A No. 3 Rebels most likely didn’t expect to surrender 36 points in the game’s opening half.

The Artesians (5-2) used a potent, pass-happy no-huddle offense that amassed 206 yards during the game’s first two quarters and defeated Roncalli 49-39.

Before Friday’s game, the home team had won all four previous meetings between the two schools, dating back to 2008. Martinsville snapped Roncalli’s streak of three consecutive wins against Class 5A schools.
