St. John’s United Church of Christ on the southside will host a recycling event this week.

The church is partnering with DAO Technology Recyclers to offer a drop-off location for all large or small electronics and appliances from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Residents and local business can bring large or small appliances in any condition, such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves and freezers.

Any electronics will also be accepted, including phones, PDAs, stereos, iPods, game systems, computers, laptops, printers, routers, switches, cables, mice or keyboards.

Other items like furnaces, air conditioning units, tools, drills, aluminum cans, lawn equipment, grills, bicycles and batteries can also be dropped off at the church.

A $5 fee applies for all television sets and computer monitors.

Quick Shred of Indy will shred documents free of charge.

Items not accepted at this event include mattresses, paint, oil, consumer waste, plastic bottles, glass bottles, foam, wood, chemicals, furniture, rubber, and fluorescent bulbs.

The church is at 7031 S. East St., on the southwest corner of Southport Road and U.S. 31.
