Dan Burke has been a Pacers assistant coach since 1997, which means he’s conducted practices and sweated out games alongside Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Rick Carlisle and Jim O’Brien.
He perhaps is better qualified than anyone affiliated with the organization to speak as to why Frank Vogel is the ideal coach at the perfect time in what is the franchise’s 46th year.
“It’s how he picks his assistants,” joked Burke, 52. “Frank loves what he does and is a tireless worker. He is relentless at honing in on every detail, particularly at the offensive end.”
