Police were called to a party at a Center Grove area golf course clubhouse after shots were fired early Saturday morning.

At about 1:40 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were called to Walnut Ridge, in the 1800 block of Morgantown Road. When they arrived, they saw multiple vehicles speeding away and security officers said shots had been fired.

A woman in the parking lot had a cut to the head, and told police she heard three shots fired. Emergency workers were unsure if the woman had been grazed by a bullet or if she had been hit by glass from the vehicle she was sitting in. She was treated at the scene, and did not have to be taken to a hospital, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Security officers told deputies that between 12 and 20 shots had been fired by two to three people. They told police two people had fired from different areas of the parking lot, and a third person may have fired a gun into the air while leaving, the report said.

Sheriff’s deputies searched people who were at the party, but did not find any weapons, the report said.

Deputies also interviewed about 40 people at the party, but did not find out who fired the shots, the report said. They also spoke with the owner of the property, who said he had rented the facility to a man he knew only by his first name, but the man was not there, the report said.

No one was arrested.
