As today is my birthday, I am sharing two of my favorite dishes and a few bits of news on the food-writer front.
Things are hopping along well, and I have all of you to thank.
It’s hard to stand out in the area of food and family writing. I am one of hundreds in this country who write on those topics for newspapers and other publications. So, throughout the past few years, I have looked for ways to diversify my work, form a brand and widen the scope of my website, expanding from just writing about food to covering topics on family health, women’s issues and family travel.
Anyone with an iPhone can leave a restaurant review on websites such as Yelp and Urban Spoon these days. It helps to be different.
I hope what I have accomplished in “Spice of Life” is to open a dialog about healthy eating, keeping your family active and learning more about the state we live in. I believe you can eat well on a budget. Feed your family food they will actually eat and not spend hours in the kitchen preparing it. Shop local and support your region’s economy.
