Indian Creek football coach Mike Gillin is perfectly comfortable claiming his leading receiver has the makings of an exceptional quarterback.
He’s also convinced the Braves’ starting free safety would make one heck of a linebacker.
In both cases, Gillin is referring to Brenden Smith, a 6-foot, 170-pound junior.
So far this season, Smith has collected 44 receptions for 607 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, he has made 28 tackles and has a team-high three interceptions entering Friday’s game at Mid-Indiana Football Conference rival North Decatur.
