Franklin’s football team relies on its running game to generate most of its offense. That proved difficult Friday night against Decatur Central’s sizable defensive line.
The Hawks, with three linemen listed at 272 pounds or larger, dominated both lines of scrimmage, and their defense didn’t allow the visiting Grizzly Cubs to generate any offensive momentum. Chad Williams’ 75-yard touchdown run accounted for nearly than half of Franklin’s total yardage in a 29-7 regular season-ending Mid-State Conference loss.
The loss dropped the Cubs to 5-4 overall and ended their conference season at 2-4. They ended the regular season with back-to-back losses, having lost 28-10 to Greenwood on Oct. 11.
