In the near future, local residents could spend a weekend afternoon sampling Indiana made vodkas, bourbons and other spirits.
They could tour the distilleries where the liquor was made, learning how area produce is turned into alcohol. Afterward, they could buy a bottle of the spirits in a distillery tasting room.
None of those options currently are legal. But a legislative effort is moving through the Indiana General Assembly that would help make distilleries tourist destinations similar to wineries and breweries.
