A teenager is in trouble after lighting a cross on fire in the yard of a Center Grove area home early this morning, police said.
About 3:15 a.m., a homeowner on Hazy Lane in the Fairview Heights subdivision heard a loud noise outside his house and someone knocked on his door. When he opened the door he saw a small wooden cross burning in the yard and called police, the report said.
Police followed footprints in the snow to a house neaby and found two teenagers inside. One of the teens, who doesn't live at that home, told police he burned the cross in the yard, the report said.
A deputy also smelled alcohol on the teen and gave him an alcohol breath test which registered 0.089 percent, which is above the legal limit for adults to be considered too intoxicated to drive.
The deputy called the teenager's mother to come pick him up and information about the incident is being sent to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.
