A Greenwood teenager was injured after being struck by a car while crossing a Greenwood street.
Austin Sigman, 15, was in a parking lot on the east side of Meridian Street about 3:10 p.m. Monday. The vehicles going north on the street stopped, and Sigman ran across the street behind the northbound vehicles, according to a police report on the incident.
Witnesses said that as Sigman crossed, he looked for only northbound traffic. Alissa Sappington, 29, of Greenwood, was driving south and didn’t have enough time to stop before hitting Sigman, the report said.
Sigman was taken to Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis and treated for scrapes and abrasions, the report and Greenwood Police Department Lt. Matt Fillenwarth said.
