A Center Grove area woman got a call demanding money in what police say was a scam.
The woman received a call on her cellphone at 8 p.m. Tuesday from a man who asked if she had any relatives traveling. She told him that her in-laws had been driving that day, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
The man then told her that her father-in-law had hit a gang member with his car and that he was now being held at gunpoint. He demanded that she drive to the bank immediately and transfer $800 for damages or he would kill her father-in-law, the report said.
